Dr. Rabiah Mayas

DrRabiahMy name is Rabiah (pronounced RAH-bee-ah), and I think I’ve been a scientist pretty much my whole life! Asking questions, trying to come up with solutions, and figuring out how things work…all of that is a big part of being a scientist. I earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology right here at The University of Chicago and although I was raised in Maryland, Chicago has become a second home to me. I’m excited to be a part of Science Chicago – we have an amazing year full of events to inspire curiosity and learning, and to highlight how science really is everywhere!

Make sure to check out this blog frequently as Heather, Tim and myself  write about some of our favorite things about science, share links to cool science websites and videos, post videos and photos, highlight my favorite science books, and answer your science questions.

I’d love to hear from you – what you are curious about, what science means to you, and what things you’d like to see as a part of Science Chicago!

Heather Selby
heatherHi! I have never liked doing ordinary things. New, exciting, and unusual things give me the chance to be creative. Creativity is exciting because it is generally open-ended allowing intellectual freedom and opportunities for discovery. I just graduated in biomedical engineering and literature. I know I like literature, and I know I like science, and I hope to combine both. Other than that, my life is like a blog…I never know what will come next.

Tim Boutelle

timboutelleI’m currently in my third year as an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago, majoring in the history of science. I love all kinds of science, but I’m especially interested in evolutionary biology and its history from before Darwin until today.

I’m excited to join the Science Chicago team, and look forward to doing more science writing and working in museums in the future.
