No long post from me today, but I came across a video this morning that I can’t help but share here. It’s an ad for a relatively standard piece of lab equipment–a thermocycler which alternately heats and cools test tubes as a part of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) scientists use to copy strands of DNA–but it’s far from boring as depicted here. I’ll let the video speak for itself:
Thanks to the Wired Science blog, which notes that a number of other manufacturers of scientific instruments “have embraced viral advertising, filming a Monty Python spoof to sell chromatography equipment, and music videos to promote biotech products,” for bringing this to my attention.
